Papers assembled by Waten mainly relating to his membership of and interest in the Communist Party of Australia and the Socialist Party of Australia. The papers comprise pamphlets, journals, newsletters, resolutions, agenda and minutes of meetings, newspapers cuttings, notes and other papers.

Waten resigned from the Communist Party of Australia in 1972 (see letter of resignation at Series 2/18). See also Series 12 for further Left publications.

Immediate source of acquisition:
The Judah Waten Papers were purchased from Judah Waten and his family in six instalments between 1974 and 1986.
