- Stivens' collection of short stories entitled The Courtship of Uncle Henry: a collection of tales and stories, was published by Reed and Harris, Melbourne, in 1946. Contained in this series are early drafts of the stories, together with a bound typescript. There is an undated original pen and ink illustration by Vane Lindesay.

- The papers were purchased from Stivens in several small instalments from 1971 to 1973 and in one large instalment from Stivens' companion, Juanita Cragen, in 1999.
