Programs and personal documents

Component identifier:
Series 4
Content Summary:

One volume contains programmes of concerts at which Hutchens' compositions were performed, both by himself and by other artists, and covers the period 1930-1966. Three other volumes contain programs for concerts and broadcasts, 1907-1965, at which Hutchens performed, either as principal artist or support-artist. One of these volumes is almost exclusively devoted to concerts and broadcasts at which Hutchens performed with the violinist, Phyllis McDonald. Also included in these albums are programmes relating to the opening of the New South Wales Conservatorium of Music in 1915 and anniversaries of its opening, as well as some newspaper clippings dealing with concerts at which Hutchens performed.

The series also includes framed copies of Hutchens' O.B.E. (1962), Bard of Cornwall (1960), and Fellow of the Royal Academy of Music (1939) certificates.

Immediate source of acquisition:
The Hutchens Papers were presented to the National Library by Mrs Joyce Hutchens and were received in three consignments in October 1967, November 1967 and January 1987.
