Content Summary:

Two collections of black-and-white photographs, one loose photograph and one annotated envelope. Some of collections referred to in the annotation are missing.

Collection 11; woman with child, herb-fields, mountains with snow-patches/snowfields, rocky slopes, vehicular track, edge of snowfield/patch with child sitting on rock in foreground, leaning timber pole, small car on road, small shrubs/woody herbs, ground-hugging plants, tussock grass, sheep, males using watering cans, cattle, large hose with stream of water. Photos numbered on reverse; includes duplicates. Includes strip of brown paper used to bundle collection, labelled "11". Also includes one slightly larger photo (of woman with five children in picnic ground) which appears to belong to a different collection, labelled "6/26" on reverse.

Collection 13; telegraph poles, treeless mountains, vehicular track, rocky slopes, cabin, tussock grass, male next to large body of water (river/lake/dam?), large building in treeless valley, "Kunama Hütte", herbfields, building debris, flock of birds flying, rock formations. Includes strip of brown paper used to bundle collection, labelled "13". Includes duplicates.

White annotated NSW National Parks and Wildlife Service envelope. Annotation reads: "A. Costin Photographs: Black White Photographs: Collection 11, 12, 13, 14."

Immediate source of acquisition:
This large and diverse collection was compiled by Alec Costin then organised and catalogued by the eScholarship Research Centre at The University of Melbourne from 2017-2019. The collection was then transferred to the National Library of Australia in 2020.
