Contact prints for photograph collections 1 and 2. Labelling on reverse reads: "Roll 1: 12"; "Roll 2: Le". Subjects include roads, buildings and machinery [Snowy Mountains scheme?]; bodies of water; pair of trees near fence; two males standing in front of wall of rock [sandstone?]; slopes with herbfields and rocky ground; boulder on pedestal of large rocks with male standing next to it; cars in front of large building with mountains in background.

Assorted black-and-white photographs most labelled; includes duplicates. Subjects include slope covered in herbfield interspersed with rocky ground with shovel and leaning pole in background; small plant with trowel behind; slope with rocky outcrop at summit and herbfield amongst rocky ground; mountain with snow patches and herbfield in foreground. Photos labelled variously as "1/29" (possibly from collection 1); "4"; "Plate 1" (with one duplicate labelled as "3"); "Plate 1, 3, 7, 1/23" (possibly from collection 1); unlabelled photos (with one duplicate). Also includes 3x copies of photo with superimposed diagram labelled "recess", "axial direction", "toe of riser" [showing effects of glaciation?] numbered as 17209a and Plate 3 (with duplicates numbered P2 and 4).

Black-and-white photographs, subjects and location unidentified. Subjects include effects of grazing and case moth larvae, snow grass (Poa caespitosa), snow daisy (Celmiste longifolia), tussock grassland, Plantago - Montia [Plantago muelleri - Montia australiasica alliance?]. Most photos labelled on reverse (some as figures); includes duplicates. Photos labelled as "Fig 11", "Fig 9". One photo (numbered 109) enclosed in slip of paper labelled "omit". One photo and its duplicate unlabelled.

Colour negatives in two strips. Negatives are numbered. Subjects are possibly specimen slides. Some negatives underexposed.

Immediate source of acquisition:
This large and diverse collection was compiled by Alec Costin then organised and catalogued by the eScholarship Research Centre at The University of Melbourne from 2017-2019. The collection was then transferred to the National Library of Australia in 2020.
