Content Summary:

Black-and-white photographs, possibly for journal "Ecology". Subjects include shovel with leaning pole in background, tussock grass interspersed with rocky ground, rucksack and hat [for scaling?] in herbfields. Photos numbered on reverse as 1/-; 4/-; 5/-; 6/-. Includes duplicates. Also contains 1x Buff label with eyelet. Label reads: Veg Encroachment: 1: Succession (choice): {Ecology}".

Black-and-white photographs mounted on index card, labelled and dated (except one card). Photos enclosed in Buff CSIRO envelope labelled as "Mounted Photos: For Waste Point". Subjects include perched blocks (Carruthers Spur, Kosciusko), moraine, stone stream, peat exposure, terrace, laminated peat deposit, possible evidence of glaciation, E. niphophila (snow gum) growing in block jointing in granite, stone stream, stringy bogs complex, ice cave. Locations include Club Lake, Curruthers Peak, Rawsons Creek, Kosciusko, Perisher Creek, Schlink Pass, Carruthers and Mt. Clark cirques, Island Bend, Club Lake Creek, Seaman's Hut, Gungartan track, Wilkinson Valley. Most cards labelled as "G.R."

Immediate source of acquisition:
This large and diverse collection was compiled by Alec Costin then organised and catalogued by the eScholarship Research Centre at The University of Melbourne from 2017-2019. The collection was then transferred to the National Library of Australia in 2020.
