Content Summary:
Colour slides originally housed in a clear plastic food container with yellow lid labelled "ACT Arial". The slides are numbered, mostly labelled (many with botanical names) and some annotated. Locations include Lake Albina, Kosciuszko area, below Etheridge, Carruthers, Club Lake, Twynam, Gungartan, area near Avalanche Hut, upper Snowy River, Crackenback fall, Jagungal, Nth Fainton, Bogong Central, Blue Lake, Mt. Buller, Seamen's Hut. Subjects include Fen, Feldmark, various plants identified by botanical names, rocky habitat, shrubs on moraine. Some slides clearly dated as Summer 1958-59, 21-12-1959, January 1958, Nov 1959, 58-59. Others appear to be dated as 1954 and 1962. Original box labelled "ACT Aerial".
Immediate source of acquisition:
This large and diverse collection was compiled by Alec Costin then organised and catalogued by the eScholarship Research Centre at The University of Melbourne from 2017-2019. The collection was then transferred to the National Library of Australia in 2020.
