- Black-and-white photographs, including one print mounted on cardboard. Photos are variously unidentified, labelled, dated and/or numbered. Subjects include landscapes (Australian alpine); aerial shots, male using stereoscope and stereo microscope to view aerial photographs and slides; panoramic views of landscape (using collages of photographs); pleistocene barrier; three males (including Costin and photographer) studying ground; helicopters; male setting up stereo camera frame; setup for viewing stereo slides (transparencies); setup for plot; carpark at unidentified snow-field. Locations include Pipers Creek; Pretty Point, Perisher Gap, Mt Wheatley, Carruthers Peak, Blue Lake, Mt Kosciusko Chalet, Charlotte's Pass, Boggy Plain, Mt Townsend, Mt Kosciusko, Snowy River, Betts's Camp, Lake Pootakatamba, Seaman Hut, Pretty Point. Also includes one photo labelled on front depicting tread, recess, and riser; Adastra aerial shots; some repeat shots (eg 1977 repeat of shot taken pre-1939). Numbering shown using various sequences: Examples of numbers include 1732, 11424, 77/310/7. Some photos numbered as plates/figures; some aerial photos include locations schematically mapped out on reverse.

- This large and diverse collection was compiled by Alec Costin then organised and catalogued by the eScholarship Research Centre at The University of Melbourne from 2017-2019. The collection was then transferred to the National Library of Australia in 2020.
