Content Summary:

Double time was published by Penguin in 1985 to coincide with the 150th anniversary of Victoria. Edited by Lake and Farley Kelly, it comprised 50 biographies of women, from early figures such as Eliza Batman and Georgiana McCrae until modern times. Lake wrote pieces on Ellen Kelly (1832-1923), the mother of Ned Kelly, and Annie Smith (1875-1951), a nurse and 'soldier settler'. The file of papers contains drafts of the latter article and correspondence and notes concerning Annie Smith.
