Sermons, c1920s-1965

Component identifier:
Series 9
Content Summary:
Edwards accumulated a large number of manuscript and typescript copies of the sermons he preached, the earliest dating from his time as Rector of St Augustine's Church, Bulli. Many of the sermons had been grouped by subject prior to being transferred to the Library and this arrangement has been preserved. The remaining sermons have been grouped by date of year written. The sermons span a period of some forty years and in subject reflect many of the current issues of the day, such as world war, religious education, scientific discovery and space exploration.
Immediate source of acquisition:
The papers of William John Edwards were donated to the Library by his son-in-law, Arthur Pulford, in 2003. The papers had been in the possession of Edwards' daughter, Jill Pulford, since 1967 and came to the Library following her death.
