Content Summary:

Contained in this series is a small group of papers relating to Edwards and his family. There are letters of recommendation for both Edwards and Amy (then Stephenson) dating from 1910-1919; letters written by his mother (1898) and his daughter Joy (1928); genealogical charts, biographical notes about Edwards written by his daughter, Jill Pulford and correspondence between Pulford and George Garnsey regarding his writing of the Australian Dictionary of Biography entry for Edwards. Other papers include a receipt dated 30 April 1920 from Bead Watson Ltd for items of furniture, papers relating to Edwards' membership of the Masonic Lodge, and a Papal Medallion presented to Edwards during a private audience with Pope Pius XII (c1952).

There is a copy of Boswell's life of Johnson inscribed 'To W.J. Edwards from his mother 9.12.15', the date of his 24th birthday. This is significant because it indicates that Edwards was still in contact with his family, despite the fact that he and his father had fallen out some five years earlier over his decision to study at Moore Theological College. His father died before the rift could be healed.
