- The bulk of the correspondence in this series is between Maisie and her mother, Muriel Newbold. Up until the time of her marriage to Russell Drysdale in June 1964, Maisie and her mother had lived together and so letters prior to this date are from those times when either one or the other of them was travelling. After her marriage to Drysdale, Maisie's letters are filled with details of her day-to-day life and references to Drysdale's work. Included are letters from Russell Drysdale to Muriel Newbold.

- The papers of Maisie Drysdale were donated to the Library in 2001 by Russell Drysdale's daughter, Lynne Clarke, under the Cultural Gifts Program.
