Content Summary:

In 1935 Maisie commenced art lessons at the George Bell School in Melbourne, thought Purves Smith and Drysdale, she did not continue with her art in a commercial way. This series contains some of her early artwork, mainly quick pencil sketches in sketchbooks and on loose pages. There is also a sketchbook from 1930 containing European scenes in watercolour.

Immediate source of acquisition:
The papers of Maisie Drysdale were donated to the Library in 2001 by Russell Drysdale's daughter, Lynne Clarke, under the Cultural Gifts Program.
