This series contains correspondence received by Sir Littleton, as well as some letters he wrote. Some of the letters are thank you letters, others are letters of congratulation. Most of the correspondents are friends or family members. There is a small amount of letters to both Sir Littleton and Lady Groom.
Please note that the original file titles, where they existed, have been retained. The file title 'Special letters 1928' actually contains correspondence from 1927. Related correspondence can be found in Series 5: Political papers, Series 6: Addresses, debates, articles and papers, and Series 12: Correspondence of Lady Jessie Groom.
- Immediate source of acquisition:
- The collection was passed to Cecil Pearce, husband of Jessie, one of Sir Littleton and Lady Groom's daughters. Mr Pearce subsequently bequeathed the papers to his daughter-in-law, who together with her three children, donated the material to the Library.
