Musical criticism and cultural writings of Curt and Marea Prerauer, 1937-1973

Component identifier:
Series 3
Content Summary:

Comprises scripts for radio talks, mostly given in (West) Germany and other cultural writings, many on Australian musical and cultural life, reviews of music and books, drafts for a book on music, some business correspondence, and a small amount of autobiographical writing by Curt. Much material has shared authorship, such as reviews written under the name C.M. Prerauer, ie Curt Marea Prerauer.

This series primarily comprises material written during Curt's lifetime, but a small number of papers in some files were created as late as 1973.

Immediate source of acquisition:
Marea Prerauer's nephew Alyn Tilleard donated the papers to the National Library of Australia in two instalments in 2006 and 2007. The National Library of Australia's Curator of Music Robyn Holmes and music historian Graeme Skinner packed the papers and undertook some arrangement and listing of the collection.
