Content Summary:

Papers and correspondence relating to the organisation of colloquia on special and topical themes, festivals, and conferences by various National Committees. In 1988 a colloquia "The documentation of Music and Dance and its Use in the Living Tradition" was held in Townsville, Queensland.

Correspondence also relates to the work of Liaison Officers, National Committees, and special interest groups (Study Groups) in providing reports and publications to Council. Study Groups include the Computer Aided Research Study Group, Study Group on Music Archaeology, and the Study Group on Ethnochoreology.

Subseries 2.4 and 2.5 contain files of correspondence and papers relating to National Committees and Liaison Officers arranged alphabetically under the name of the country.

Immediate source of acquisition:
In 2005, the Secretariat moved to the School of Music at the Australian National University. The move of the Council's records was co-ordinated by the immediate past Secretary General Professor Anthony Seeger (Department of Ethnomusicology, University of California Los Angeles UCLA) and the incoming Secretary General, Dr Stephen Wild (School of Music Australian National University ANU). The International Council for Traditional Music donated its records to the National Library in 2006.
