- This consignment comprises material relating to Ivan Southall's service in the RAAF and to several of his books. There are photographs and associated material on 461 Squadron RAAF; Southall's hand-drawn map of the U-Boat attack plan that resulted in Southall receiving the Distinguished Flying Cross; research materials for Southall's books Bluey Truscott, Softly Tread the Brave, Indonesia Face to Face and Parson on the Track, with some photographs taken by Southall, particularly in Indonesia.

- The papers were purchased by the National Library from Ivan Southall in two instalments in 1977 and 1997. Further papers were received in 2008, 2009, 2012,2013, 2015 and 2017.
