This series contains drafts, notes, newspaper cuttings and correspondence. Included is a draft of Custard takes a whip which Southall rewrote twenty years later into two books, King of the sticks, (1979) The golden goose (1983). The correspondents include Beatrice Davis, Alec Bolton, Judith Fischer and Barbara Ker Wilson.
Immediate source of acquisition:
The papers were purchased by the National Library from Ivan Southall in two instalments in 1977 and 1997. Further papers were received in 2008, 2009, 2012,2013, 2015 and 2017.
