Content Summary:
Written 1973 while Martin was on a one year $5000 Literature Board Grant and living with Wheatley in Camperdown. This is the complete typescript as submitted to William Collins (publishers). The novel was regarded as too experimental and was rejected. Martin returned to the text in 1982 and made some changes; it was published by Hale and Iremonger in 1983.
Immediate source of acquisition:
The original consignment was purchased by the Library in 1996. Further papers were donated in 2004 and purchased in 2005, 2008 and 2017.
