Component identifier:
Series 15
Content Summary:

A modern woman and other crimes, edited by Melissa Chan and J. Terry, was the first crime anthology published by Artemis Press. J. Terry was another pseudonym for Jocelynne Scutt and was used as the contact name at Artemis Press.

There were some distinguished contributors to this anthology including some who were well known in other fields; for example, Margaret Bradstock, one of the authors, was a medieval historian who lectured at the University of New South Wales. For other contributors it was a departure into a new form of writing. Contributors were: Marie Beare, Bay Brown, Margaret Bradstock, Melissa Chan, Ashleigh Claire, Judith L. Clark, Sherryl Clark, Deb Hall, Blanche Hampton, Janet Labatut, Sue Neacy, Margaret Pender, Susan Perry, Kathleen Phillips, Lucy Sussex, J. Terry, Elizabeth Townson and Edel Wignall.

The series consists of a succession of original drafts and corrected drafts from the contributors to the anthology. There is correspondence between Scutt and contributors and some general correspondence on publishing and publicising the anthology.

Immediate source of acquisition:
The originals consignment was donated by Dr Jocelynne Scutt to the National Library in three instalments under the Taxation Incentives for the Arts Scheme in 1992, 1993 and 1994.
