Content Summary:

The bulk of the correspondence is of a business nature and deals with conferences and seminars, publications, academic appointments, grant applications, examination of postgraduate students, study leave, book launchings and the like. Some of the letters are more personal, but there is very little family correspondence (except for a few miscellaneous letters). The main correspondents are academics, students, university administrative staff, publishers, Aboriginal activists and people not known to Reynolds but who admired his writings.

The correspondence was kept in files in chronological order, except for papers in files 71-73b. Wherever possible, the order of the files in this series and the arrangement of papers within them have been maintained by the Library.

Immediate source of acquisition:
The papers were purchased by the Library from Henry Reynolds in 1999. Further papers were added in 2009.
