The other side of the frontier examines the Aboriginal response to the invasion and settlement of Australia between the late eighteenth and the early twentieth century. Reynolds won the Ernest Scott Historical Prize in 1982 for the book.
The series comprises correspondence and reviews, notes, the manuscript and a typescript with some amendments. The correspondents include Geoffrey Bolton, Peter Corris, Bruce Dawe, Humphrey McQueen, Judith Wright, Suzanne Mellor, Stuart Macintyre, Russel Ward, Garth Nettheim, Beverley Kingston, Hugh Trollope, Dianne Barwick, James Griffin, Central Australia Aboriginal Media Association and members of the public.

- The papers were purchased by the Library from Henry Reynolds in 1999. Further papers were added in 2009.
