Fate of a free people is a history of the Tasmanian Aborigines. In the book, Reynolds analyses evidence that a verbal treaty was made between the Tasmanian Aborigines and the British in 1831 to end the war in Van Diemen's Land.
The series comprises correspondence, reviews, notes and a manuscript, typescript and galleys. The correspondents include Penguin Books, Lindsay Broughton, Peter Jull, Geoff Lennox and Paul R. Bartrop.
