Text by the composer based on the Brothers Grimm story 'The Singing Bone'. Commissioned with prize money from the Albert H. Maggs Award (awarded to Ford's large ensemble piece Rauha). First performance by Sally Walker (flute) with the Shanghai String Quartet (as drone), Melbourne Festival, October 2013, many subsequent performances by multiple flautists in Australia, USA, Sweden (in Swedish) and East Timor.
- Immediate source of acquisition:
- The first consignment was donated to the Library by Andrew Ford under the Taxation Incentives for the Arts Scheme in February 2001. Further papers were received in 2002, 2004, 2006, 2007, 2008, 2011, 2014 and 2019.
