- Murdoch was founder and General Manager of the Universal Record Club in 1963 before joining the World Record Club Australia in 1964 as special assistant to the Editor-in-Chief. In that capacity he produced cover notes for a large number of recordings, edited World Record Club News (New Zealand), wrote articles on contemporary music and artists, and produced the 'Australian Music Today' recordings in 1965. He remained on the staff of the World Record Club until 1969.
