- Reading 1990 was established by the National Book Council, in conjunction with the Literature Board of the Australia Council and the National Library, to promote reading in Australia during 1990, International Literary Year. Murdoch was appointed Director of the project in April 1989. His contract ended in November 1989 and the National Book Council then took over the administration of the project. This small series contains correspondence, circulars, reports and notes. The correspondents include Rosemary Wighton and Peter Field.
