Allen Papers, Australian War Memorial 3RDL 2381

Containers:
Box 1-3
Component identifier:
File 4
Content Summary:
Copies made in 1993 for Richard James Allen, son of General Allen, who had contemplated writing a biography. Copies handed to Stuart Braga in August 2000 when the project commenced, resulting in publication of 'Kokoda Commander' in October 2004. It is a different selection of the Allen Papers in the Australian War Memorial, leaning more heavily on the details of the Kokoda Campaign, specially the 'Sitreps' (situation reports), giving details of each day's activities. There is some overlap with the material on No. 4, but there is important additional material, especially reports by Chester Wilmot. A MS listing made by Stuart Braga introduces this material. Many documents are annotated for use in writing the book.
