Correspondence between Sir Brudenell and Lady White, 1905-1940
- Component identifier:
- Subseries 2-1
- Content Summary:
-
Sir Brudenell and Lady White exchanged a large number of letters over the course of their marriage, many of which have been preserved, capturing a very full account of their lives. There are a large number of their letters to each other during the years of the First World War, when they were apart for over five years. Before and after the war years, the requirements of Sir Brudenell's work and the fact that Lady White stayed on their farm while he worked in the city during the week, meant that they were often apart. It is clear from the correspondence that they shared a very caring relationship and both made time to regularly write long, informative letters to each other about their day-to-day activities. A small number of their letters can also be found scattered throughout folders in subseries 2.3 and 2.4.
