Papers and assorted correspondence of James (Kenneth) Mackay relating to Imperial Bushmen/Light Horse and Australian Army Reserve. Includes: letters from Minister of Defence G F Pearce (1914) re Light Horse Brigade and Mackay's offer of service in WW1; from Pearce (1916) re the organisation of returned soldiers into a reserve and Mackay's role; and from W Birdwood (1919) on Mackay's resigning his appointment with the Reserve. Also includes correspondence re recommendation of an OBE for Kenneth Mackay (1920); gazettal notices of his appointments; press clippings; small number of photographs; training material; regimental orders; and reunion programmes.

The papers were acquired from the Mackay Family in 2011.
