- WARNING. This folder contains photographs which include some images of deceased people that may cause sadness or distress to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people. They also include some images of nudity. Photographs and negatives from Donald Mackay's series of aerial surveys of the Central Australia (includes photographs of their departure ; base camps; crew and support workers; aboriginal people; aerial shots; Uluru; Hermannsberg; including Pastor Albrecht). Some with Donald Mackay's annotations at rear; and some with identifying comments by NLA staff. Also includes envelope in which some of their departure photographs were originally housed; camera receipt; and small number of unidentified photographs (date unknown). Aerial survey expeditions conducted in 1930 in the south western corner of the Northern Territory (including to Ulluru and visiting Hermannsberg) for which members included D. Mackay, H T Bennett, F Neale, H K Love, H C Morrison and H B Hussey; in 1933 around the Petermann ranges and Fitzroy Crossing (also visiting Hermannsberg) for which members included D Mackay, F Neale, H T Bennett, H K Love and J Fuller; in 1935 north of the railway line across the Nullabor Plain for which members included D Mackay, F Neale, H T Bennett, and A L Wilkinson; and in 1937 around Hermannsberg, the Tanami and north west of West Australia for which members included D Mackay, F Neale, H T Bennett, and H McEvoy. Supporting all surveys were Bob Buck and Afghan cameleers.
