- Papers relating to the family of Dermot Casey, including personal and business correspondence, documents, family history material and photographs. Many of the papers relate to Dermot Casey's grandfather Cornelius Gavin Casey, a surgeon who arrived in Van Diemen's Land in 1833. In 1834 Cornelius Gavin Casey was posted to the penal settlement at Port Arthur, and went on to work in various districts around Tasmania. When his wife Letitia died in 1863 he left the colony for Victoria with his 16 year old son Richard Gardiner Casey. A substantial part of the collection comprises the papers of Richard Gardiner Casey, who became a pastoralist and businessman, served as a member of the Queensland parliament and was Chairman of the Victoria Racing Club.
