This Series is comprised of copies of out-letters, warrants and pardons from the Secretary of State for the Home Office. Letters include those to Justices of Assize Courts, Sheriffs, Mayors and private individuals who have presented petitions to the Home Office regarding certain prisoners. The letters have been copied chronologically. Volume 5 is the only volume that has been filmed with an index.

Warrants issued soon after trial state which hulk a convict was to be kept on.
