Correspondence from the Colonial Office regarding the colonies but not usually directed to the governors. Much of the correspondence is of a private and unofficial nature.

Correspondence includes instructions, petitions, law reports, grants and letters. Early volumes contain both incoming and outgoing correspondence but later volumes only outgoing.

Only selected pieces and selected extracts within pieces were filmed by the Australian Joint Copying Project.
