The Australian Joint Copying Project selectively filmed records relating to the first British settlement in Australia, the establishment of the Pacific whaling fishery and British economic and strategic interests in South East Asia. As well as papers of William Pitt (the Younger) there are letters written to John Pitt, 2nd Earl of Chatham (1756–1835), who held a number of offices in his brother's Government.
Also filmed is a letter written to their father, William Pitt, 1st Earl of Chatham, who was M.P. 1735-1766, Secretary of State 1756-1757 and 1757-1761, and Prime Minister in 1766-1768.
