Component identifier:
Series
Extent:
20 items
Content Summary:

Most of the letters from Stobart to his mother are very lengthy and are in diary form, with each letter covering a period of days or weeks.

Although the letters are mostly numbered and are in one chronological sequence, they cover at least three separate journeys: the journey to Australia, Canton, Ceylon and India in 1852-1854 and travels in Egypt in 1854-1855 and 1856. The list below gives details of the contents of the letters written in Australia, the Pacific and South East Asia.
