Registers of certificates of compentency issued to masters and mates employed on colonial vessels.
Individual entries give the name, place of birth, year of birth, and date and place of certification as Master, 1st Mate or 2nd Mate. The pre-1890 entries often give the names of ships on which the individual served. In some cases deaths are recorded.
