Content Summary:

Unbound papers on a wide range of subjects, including charters, commissions, public health, military and naval stores, schools, the colonies (1785-1800) and the Convict Establishment (1819-1844).

Items filmed by the Australian Joint Copying Project (AJCP) include: petitions and letters from individuals; reports from government deparoments; papers in appeal cases; proclamations, etc. These records concern convicts and prisons; the 1812 massacre of Maoris at Tippoona, New Zealand by whalers searching for the wrecked ship Boyd; a charter for New Zealand Company, Southern Whale Fishery; and settlement in New South Wales.

Selected extracts only have been filmed by the Australian Joint Copying Project (AJCP) from pieces 37-64, 3967 and 4303. Pieces 67-92 have been filmed in full.
