ICIP identification notice: This file contains Indigenous Cultural and Intellectual Property (ICIP) of the Yankuntjatjara people [Yankunytjatjara people C4]; and mentions the language group Nangikurrungurr. The ICIP comes in the form of a personal history and the experiences of growing up on Country. Scope and contents: Some of the speeches included in this file were presented to: The Federation of Aboriginal Women, International Association for Volunteer Effort, an address to the Catholic women of the St. Francis Xavier Mission, India Australia Association of Canberra, and a graduation address for student nurses from the Royal Adelaide Hospital. Several of the speeches were given in O'Donoghue's position as Chairperson of Aboriginal Hostels Limited and during her tenure as Australian of the Year. The speeches cover a variety of topics including women's liberation and the socio-economic conditions of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.
The file includes two copies of National Agenda for Women : the Commonwealth's plan of action for advancing the status of women towards the year 2000, an address given by then Prime Minister Bob Hawke, on 28 November 1985.
