Abstract Or Scope
This collection of photographs taken in New Guinea in the late 1930s includes images of an experimental amphibian Sikorsky aircraft nicknamed 'Tuppy'; the pilots and support crews at work; aerial views of the New Guinean landscape including the Fly and Sepik Rivers; and the local people and villages. Captioned by the photographer Roy Savage, these photographs highlight the challenging logistics of landing, housing and servicing aircraft in New Guinea during this time.
