The White Cassowary: carbon typescript with handwritten emendations by DMF; plus letter about it dated June 27 (probably 1957; it's an internal New York correspondence from Tom Hungerford. The original of this would probably have been the one sent to Peter Hastings, eading up to its publication in New Guinea in 1966; and HF assumes that, before then, DMF had gone through it again and cut out some emendations shown in this copy, such as the one at foot of p.55 - or else these were inserted after its published (e.g. when scanning it for Mr Michael Powell, a film-maker who had read it somewhere, and discussed its film possibilities during a visit in 1968, see item 108) Box 2 Unit ID: 49
'The White Cassowary: corrected copy' - thus marked on the cover of this copy of New Guinea 1, 5, in which the story had been printed from proofs pasted up in the wrong order on pp62-64.
