This collection comprises primarily original radio scripts and working notes by Doris Mary Dyson, written for the ABC (Australian Broadcasting Commission). The scripts were intended for school-aged children in Western Australia (WA), aiming to broaden their knowledge about the history of WA. Several of the scripts were produced by ABC Radio for broadcast across Australia, including the radio play "Kabbarli" about Daisy Bates. The scripts were mostly broadcast in the 1950s and 1960s. The collection also includes an ABC TV script written by Dyson, copies of short stories published in Western Australian newspapers, various original letters from the ABC, parliamentarians and fans, ABC contracts, newspaper stories about Dyson, photographs, and drafts and research material to which Dyson referred. Among the correspondence is a personal letter from Daisy Bates, and praise for Greenwich Mean Time and John Forrest from the Aboriginal Advancement League and Labor MP Ted Needham. There is a letter from the ABC requesting clarification for the pronunciation of several Indigenous words, preserved together with Dyson's reply.
