Comprises newscuttings, typescripts, research material, correspondence and other papers relating to Cyril Pearl's historical research, work as a journalist and other activities. The papers include some material relating to Pearl's time as a student at the University of Melbourne. The newscuttings include copies of articles written by Pearl for The Sunday telegraph, 1939-1947, and his 'On the margin' column in The Sydney morning herald, 1968-1971. There are subject files on the University of Melbourne, 1930s; inventions; flying; food; Dr L.L. Smith; Thomas Watling; jargon; Mafeking; Adelaide Ironside; Wood Jones; Hugh Robertson; housing; Richard and Anne Hughes; Ireland and the Mole tank invented by Lancelot de Mole. The collection also comprises a scrapbook of newspaper cuttings of articles written by Pearl for The Star newspaper, 1933-1935, and edited copies of articles.

The collection also includes family photographs, Tong family papers, official documents, postcards and two volumes of genealogy of the Chau Family written in Chinese.

MS Acc09.091 and MS Acc09.113 consignments comprise press cuttings, articles, correspondence and documents relating to policies of the National Library of Australia on collection development and information technology such as Kinetica and World 1 project, the National Document and Information System (NDIS). The World 1 project, an electric network connecting Australian and New Zealand libraries, was to be a system that would link libraries around Australia and provide electronic access to international materials not held by the Library.

Papers of the Fife family, 1778-2009

MS 8183 chiefly comprises Fife family correspondence. Included are letters from William Fife to his son Nixon in Australia, 1860-1881, and correspondence between Nixon Fife and his cousins Josephine Cowan and Minnie Davidson from the United States, 1870-1945. There is a folder of papers relating to Wal Fife's 2004 publication Mary Ann's children, which is about Thomas Whittaker, Mary Ann Hardy, James Lester and their descendants. There are original letters, together with transcriptions, birth and marriage certificates and a 3rd class passenger ticket purchased by Whittaker for travel from Liverpool to Australia in 1869 aboard the SS "Great Britain". The collection also comprises material relating to the Sherwin's Flat Wyatts, 1778-1991, and includes research material, draft family histories, and family correspondence about family reunions and other matters (2 boxes, 1 security binder).

The original instalment MS Acc09.179 comprises research material on various topics including Chloe MacMillan, gold transfer from Nazi Germany to Lisbon, Salazar, Macau, Huambo, Luanda; documents relating to East Timor including lists of military equipment in use, United Nations documents, Timorese Constitution, 2006 violence; correspondence with Noam Chomsky on East Timor, Francesc Vendrell, United Nations, Helen Clark, Herb Feith, Arthur Tange, Francis James, Kevin Sherlock; publications including articles arising from Jolliffe's interviews with Xanana Gusmao and Konis Santana; articles by Jolliffe as filed to commissioning newspapers; photographs, mostly taken in East Timor and others from Angola, Portugal, Guinea-Bissau, China, Burma, Azores, Macau; news clippings of Jolliffe's articles; journalistic and research notebooks; videos and audio tapes of stories and radio broadcasts concerning East Timor; ephemera including press cards, invitations, exhibition catalogues and World War II propaganda.The MS Acc11.188 instalment comprises manuscript and published material relating to Portugal and its colonies, specifically East Timor and Angola with some references to Macau.
