The Lance Nelson photographic archive encompasses his entire career working as a documentary, freelance, commercial, corporate and stock photographer, internationally and in Australia. The collection comprises approximately 320 35 mm colour transparencies; 50,000 black and white negatives; 300 black and white prints; documents including personal and commercial correspondence, research notes, transcripts, note books, maps and published work including company annual reports and brochures. Includes proofs from Nelson's work for Annals magazine (Missionaries of the Sacred Heart, 1966-1973) documenting the Northern Territory missions at Port Keats (Wadeye), Bathurst Island, Tiwi and Daly River; Papua New Guinea missions at D'Entrecasteaux Islands from Milne Bay to Rossel Island and Trobriand Island; contact sheets from Boggabri Country Town Family project; contact sheets of trip to Indonesia in 1966 documenting all major islands, families, farming, mining and culture for a publication: 'Mask of Time : an Indonesian discovery'.

This substantial archive documents Anne Deveson's career, writings and activities towards bringing discussions about social issues into the public domain, notably mental health (particularly schizophrenia), aging, homosexuality, abortion, women's rights, trauma recovery and the experiences of refugees. Types of material include research notes, photocopied articles and press cutting relating to Deveson's writings and television broadcasts; interview transcripts; manuscripts of publications, including Coming of Age, Waging Peace and Tell Me I'm Here; notebooks and appointment diaries; radio scripts and teleplays; personal and professional correspondence; correspondence, minutes and other documentation relating to her Directorship of the Australian Film Television and Radio School; audiovisual material, including cassette tapes of unpublished interviews; and photographs documenting family life, functions and events, and Deveson's travels as a journalist to both Africa (primarily Kenya) and Cambodia.

MS 7073 comprises manuscripts, research notes, typescript drafts, galley proofs, draft notes and correspondence concerning writing and publication of Summers' book Damned whores and God's police, and her autobiography Ducks on the pond. Correspondents include Henry Mayer, Melanie Beresford, Ann Curthoys and staff of Penguin Books. The collection includes a cuttings book containing press cuttings about Summers and Damned whores and God's police; files of research notes; cuttings; and, correspondence on a wide range of topics including women and poverty, single parents, family, Caroline Chisholm, child care, Aboriginal Australians, rape reform proposals, suicide, women unionists, education, prostitution, racism, Womens' Electoral Lobby, Adela Pankhurst Walsh, women and the media. The collection also includes material relating to the journal Refractory girl and the publication of Her story: Australian women in print 1788-1975. There are papers and material relating to Gamble for power; papers relating to the "free Sandra Willson" campaign and Ms and Sassy magazines; transcripts and video tapes relating to the ABC TV program "Anne Summers in conversation with six Aussie men" (1994); and, various papers relating to women's issues (66 boxes, 7 fol. boxes).The Acc07.177 instalment includes a wide range of correspondence; files on various publishers and projects; and, material relating to The end of equality, Ms and Sassy magazines, Good weekend and Greenpeace International (19 boxes).

Papers of Doris Mary Dyson

Abstract Or Scope
This collection comprises primarily original radio scripts and working notes by Doris Mary Dyson, written for the ABC (Australian Broadcasting Commission). The scripts were intended for school-aged children in Western Australia (WA), aiming to broaden their knowledge about the history of WA. Several of the scripts were produced by ABC Radio for broadcast across Australia, including the radio play "Kabbarli" about Daisy Bates. The scripts were mostly broadcast in the 1950s and 1960s. The collection also includes an ABC TV script written by Dyson, copies of short stories published in Western Australian newspapers, various original letters from the ABC, parliamentarians and fans, ABC contracts, newspaper stories about Dyson, photographs, and drafts and research material to which Dyson referred. Among the correspondence is a personal letter from Daisy Bates, and praise for Greenwich Mean Time and John Forrest from the Aboriginal Advancement League and Labor MP Ted Needham. There is a letter from the ABC requesting clarification for the pronunciation of several Indigenous words, preserved together with Dyson's reply.

The collection comprises research materials relating to journalist and author Geoff Easdown and includes: audio cassettes and transcripts of interviews with Sir John Gorton; a manuscript of Dr. Phillip Opas' experiences in the RAAF in World War II and South Vietnam; a manuscript of an autobiography of Dr. Opas' years at the Bar and his experiences in commercial life; cases recounted including Opas' defence of Ronald Ryan and his actions behind the scenes in his attempts to save Ryan from the gallows; research materials for a feature film script on Edward 'Eddie' Leonski, an American soldier hanged in Melbourne for his involvement in the WW II "Brownout" murders including dispatches between General MacArthur and the Australian military, photographs and a full transcript of the US court martial held in Melbourne.
