The Papers of Bruce Smeaton comprise original feature film, television drama and television commercial scores, working notes and parts, along with initial sketches for cues, composed and orchestrated by Smeaton between 1975-2005. The film scores include Picnic at Hanging Rock, the Chant of Jimmie Blacksmith, the Devil's Playground, the Cars That Ate Paris, Monkey Grip, Grendel Grendel Grendal, Roxanne starring Steve Martin and Plenty starring Meryl Streep. The television scores include Seven Little Australians, Ben Hall, A Town Like Alice, The Eureka Stockade, Patrol Boat and Castaway. Also included are newsletters for the Composers and Songwriters Guild of Australia, a group formed in Sydney in the 1970's, for which Smeaton was an editor.

There are also a small number of loose concert programmes from the early 1980s, mostly for the BBC Promenade Concerts (2 boxes).

MS 9940 documents Meryl Tankard's career from her early engagement with The Australian Ballet and her work with the Pina Bausch Tanztheater Wuppertal to her later independent and collaborative freelance projects up until 2002. It includes programs, press clippings, photographs and conceptual and production notes for works created by Tankard, particularly Echo Point (1984), Travelling Light (1986), Two Feet (1988), The Deep End (1996) and Deep Sea Dreaming (2000) for the Sydney Olympics opening ceremony. A significant component of the collection is business documents and correspondence relating to the activities of the Meryl Tankard Company and Meryl Tankard Australian Dance Theatre (29 boxes + 2 map folios).

The collection includes photographs, an autograph book, student reports from Guildhall, and two scrapbooks containing cuttings, programs, music scores and some letters, including one from Peter Dawson. The second consignment is mainly music scores, including the operas Alaya, The jolly friar, the plays David and Myfanwy, Perhaps one day, and published works such as Some Australian songs for children and Four songs of Australia. There is also some correspondence with William F. Morriss, six discs and a manuscript titled 'Edith Harrhy musician extraordinaire: a personal memoir' by her daughter, Honor Marianne Coutts. The collection includes about 154 letters to Harrhy from Con Daly.
