Steele Rudd had been barred by Cowley the Speaker of the Queensland Parliament from the press gallery because Cowley and many other parliamentarians also, considered that Steele Rudd was ridiculing parliament with his publications of "Dad in Politics" (Which he intended to do) Steele Rudd stated at the time he was obliged to take his short hand notes "amongst the unwashed" in the public gallery.
