Strangmans photographic archive containing many 35mm colour slides documenting Canberra scenes, and other Black and white photographs and negatives including some taken during his military service in World War 1; Photographic equipment, accessories and notebooks; books and ephemera featuring Strangmans photography; correspondance; and documents related to Strangman's military service, photography work, estate and death.

This collection comprises papers pertaining to Rowley's biographies: 'Christina Stead: A Biography (1994)', 'Richard Wright: The Life and Times (2001),' 'Tête-à-tête: The Lives and Loves of Simone de Beauvoir and Jean-Paul Sartre' (2005), 'Franklin and Eleanor: An Extraordinary Marriage' (2010). They include Rowley's correspondence with her subjects and those who knew them. In the first consignment the major correspondents are Edith Anderson, Leda and Stanley Burnshaw, Gwen Walker-Smith, Florence James, Jessie and Ettore Rella, Ruth Hall, David Stead, Ron Geering, Clifton Fadiman, Kate Llwellyn, Mary Bransten, Nadine Mendelson, Elizabeth Harrower, Gai Steel, Michael Bott, Margaret Harris, Michael Gold, Edith Anderson, Anne and Harry Bloom, Gilbert Stead, Fred Warburg, Oliver Stallybrass, Leah and Philip Harvey, and Aida Kotlarsky.In the second consignment of note is an original letter from Simone de Beauvoir, and original letters of Christina Stead. Other correspondents include Clem Christesen, Harper Lee, Simone de Beauvoir, Sylvie Le Bon de Beauvoir, William Vanden Heuvel, Constance Webb, Richard Wright, Barbara Baer, Oliver Stallybrass and Toril Moi, There are photographs, research files, transcripts and notes of interviews, manuscripts and papers for other work on topics such as 'The Hollywood Ten' and a copy of Rowley's thesis 'The Female Experience in the Autobiographies of Simone de Beauvoir and Violette Leduc'. Journals, diaries, notes and log books provide further insight into Rowley's research work conducted in Australia and overseas.

The collection comprises a broad set of records created and/or compiled by Alec Costin during the course of his life and work. The records span from 1912 to 2020 and include papers, reports, correspondence, publications, manuscripts, photographs, slides, data sheets, diagrams and graphs.

Significant subjects and campaigns covered in this archive include: Roxby Downs Blockade, Maralinga, Jabiluka, as well as continual efforts to fight against the establishment of nuclear power stations within Australia, and against a national/international waste dump. Australia's First Nations Australians (Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders) voices have played an integral part in this movement and are strongly represented throughout this collection.

Box 1 contains photographs, clippings, speech notes and correspondence relating to the Parliament House Embroidery project and Dorothy Hyslop's nomination for an Order of Australia medal; ACT Embroidery Guild exhibition catalogues, and Dorothy Hyslop's correspondence, notes, invitations, clippings relating to the Guild; a copy of the Deed of Gift from Embroidery Guild to the National Museum and related correspondence; planning, design notes and correspondence relating to the Parliament House embroidery. Folio box contains material relating to the Fleming family, such as the document presented to Dorothy's grandfather (a teacher) signed by his pupils including Isaac Isaacs; a photograph album complied by Dorothy's fiance Francis Cole who died in the Second World War, and miscellaneous material including a note from Elizabeth David to Gabrielle Hyslop (1 box, 1 small folio box , 104 negatives, 3 colour photograph, 7 audiovisual carriers).
