Beutler, A.G. | Original hand written diary of 40 pages, in clear hand, dated 16 April 1923/12 November 1926. Bound in folio qrt. morocco with lockable brass clasp. Adolphe, G. Beutler, was born in Switzerland, in July 1882. Arriving in Melbourne 1907, with wife "Murick". Started a piano shop, in 1920 moved with family to Sydney, where he continued trading in pianos at 307 George St. This shop closed in July 1924. Beutler had become a friend and associate of Norman Jack Lindsay. The Lindsays encouraged him to compose music-pieces for piano, voice and orchestra. Beutler was also a founding member of the Blacktown Municipal Orchestra. He died in 1927 of a lung condition. The diary refers to his music aspirations as well as his friendship with both Norman Jack Lindsay. Included is the published work by Adolphe Beutler. Entitled:- Beutler, A.
