This collection comprises papers of Kevin Thomas Kelly (1910-1994), who was involved with Catholic intellectual life in Melbourne in the 1930's - 1950's. The papers document his education, at De la Salles college, early membership of the Campion Society; his role in establishing the Catholic Evidence Guild and introducing to Australia and fostering the Young Christian Workers (YCW), a movement founded by Belgian priest Joseph Cardijn (Jeunesse Ouvrière Chrétienne de France J.O.C.). Also included are papers relating to the 'Catholic Worker' and 'The Advocate' newspapers; the establishment of the Australian National Secretariat of Catholic Action (ANSCA); correspondence including with James and Sara Scullin, Jacques Maritain, Louise Massignon, Thomas Butler, Owen McCann and Robert Kothen; drafts of the first three chapters of his autobiography titled 'Ballarat', 'Bairnsdale' and 'Malvern'; and books and pamphlets written or edited by Kelly and works on the Young Christian Workers (YCW) in French by Kothen.
