The Inglis Moore Papers document his interest and involvement in the promotion, study and teaching of Australian literature as a critic, academic and administrator. The correspondence reveals his extensive network of contacts in the field. These included almost all of the prominent Australian writers and critics of the period 1940-65. This correspondence, together with Inglis Moore's teaching and research files, drafts of his critical and creative writings, and papers documenting his involvement with the Commonwealth Literary Fund, the Australian Society of Authors and the Fellowship of Australian Writers, constitute one of the National Library's finest literary collections.
