Abstract Or Scope
This collection comprises a nine-page handwritten account by Sir Clements R. Markham (20 July 1830 – 30 January 1916) of the 1910-1913 British Antarctic expedition (Terra Nova), led by Robert Falcon Scott (6 June 1868 - 29 March 1912). The document includes a signed preamble by Markham, the names of members of the expedition, a glossary of terms, an inventory of cargo aboard The Terra Nova, and details of supplies and equipment, as well as descriptions of notable incidents and conditions endured. The document also includes an annotated hand-drawn map of part of the expedition route, and ends with an account of Scott's final hours, mentioning in detail letters he wrote before his death in 1912.

The publications contain information on every aircraft type proposed, designed, or manufactured in Australia, from 1884 to the mid-1980s. Keith Meggs published several authoritative works on Australian aviation and is internationally recognised for his contributions to aviation and its recorded history.

This collection comprises slides taken by Jim Frazier during fieldwork with Mary E White. The images, which document fossils, landscapes, minerals and other geological features, were used for many of her publications including "The Greening of Gondwana" (1986), "Time in Our Hands: Semi-Precious Gemstones: Keys to the Geological Past" (1991), "Nature of Hidden Worlds: Reading the rock" (1999) and others. It provides a valuable documentary record of Australia's unique geology and landscape and is a testament to changing relationship of Australia's to the environment. Many of the slides have annotated housing with outlines, species names, measurements, and other information. There is also a small number of photographic prints and negatives included in the collection.

Papers of Terence Sydney Holden, 1949-1998

This collection comprises the work of Terence Sydney Holden's as part of the CSIRO (Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation) (1949-1989) and Patti G. Holden's work as laboratory technician at the Australian National University Botany Department. The bulk of the papers relate to Terence Holden's involvement with one of the first Australian large scale online, multi-user systems named DAD (Drums and Displays). There are several co-authored scientific articles and reprints showing formulas, methods and processes in the development of DAD later known as CSIRONET and notes on the history of the program and obituaries of some contributors. Copies of press releases, presentations, seminars, lecture papers, photographs and transparencies, highlight the program developments from the 1960's to the 1970's. Papers include invitations to speak at meeting and public events, meeting minutes, laboratory notebooks and several other research project articles dating back to 1949. Patti Holden's papers comprise diagrams and more than 20 local plant specimens for scientific botanical publications produced by Professor Pryor. A co-authored scientific journal is accompanied by a few laboratory photographs, design illustrations and mock ups for other departmental projects.

This collection of papers relating to Andrew Delfosse Badgery comprises a mixture of formats and materials, some contemporary to Badgery's life and some produced by third parties. Of note are a number of diaries which the donor accredit to Badgery himself, one which is of his early life and labelled as fragile, and one which was created during his time as a pilot in WWI. There is a large family tree, and numerous photographs, some stored as a collection in a single binder and some in his diaries. There is a lot of material relating to a biography of Badgery which the donor suggests was written by his son Peter, including several typed drafts, and correspondences with the Australian War Memorial and National Archives Australia regarding his service. There is also a biography of his son, as well as some articles written by the donor regarding Badgery.

This collection consists of material created and collected by Guntis Berzins, who worked for the Overseas Telecommunications Commission (Australia) as an engineer during the 1960s and 1970s. The collection includes a series of 20 lectures on "Telecommunications Organization and Procedures" issued by the Commission, working documents regarding testing of the concept and establishment of a system to distribute television to the Australian outback, examination papers for promotion to a clerical position, and ephemera relating to the official opening of the South-East Asia Commonwealth Cable (SEACOM) on 30 March 1967. This submarine telephone cable linked Cairns with Guam, Hong Kong and Singapore.
